Amritapuri & World Centers
Amritapuri Ashram is an International Community where more than 3000 people who, inspired by Amma, have dedicated their lives to serving the world. It is here that they live with Amma, imbibing Her teachings and assisting in Her humanitarian activities. Built up on the very property where Amma was born, Amritapuri is now the headquarters of Amma's worldwide mission and the spiritual home for Amma's monastic disciples and hundreds of householder devotees. All the residents have dedicated their lives for realising God and serving the world.
Amma regularly talks with the residents, advising them in all aspects of spiritual life. She also leads them in meditation and sings devotional songs with them every evening. Aside from social service, the ashramites also engage in meditation, yoga and take classes in Sanskrit and Vedanta (Indian spiritual philosophy).
As Amritapuri is the centre of Amma's International humanitarian mission. It is from here that many of Amma's disciples are sent out to serve at Amma's institutions and branch ashrams and to conduct public programmes both in India and abroad. Amritapuri is also a place of pilgrimage for people from around the world who are searching for solace, inspiration and inner peace. On average six to seven thousand people come to the ashram everyday to seek Amma's advice and to experience the warmth of Her embrace.
